JTRE London is proud to announce the formal acquisition of the long leasehold for 220 Blackfriars, London SE1, marking the start of a £400m mixed-use development scheme in partnership with Southwark Charities.

The scheme will deliver two buildings on Blackfriars Road: a 22-storey commercial tower providing approximately 220,000 sq ft of Grade A office space, and a 15-storey residential building delivering 64 modern Almshouses for Southwark Charities.

Juraj Marko, Joint Managing Director at JTRE London, said:
“The goal for 220 Blackfriars is to create market-leading office space that delivers everything a modern business requires for their staff, whilst simultaneously providing high-quality new homes for the local community.”

Supporting Southwark Charities

The development will generate funding to support the charitable work of Southwark Charities. Chris Wilson, CEO of Southwark Charities, emphasised the sustainable social impact: “Every penny generated from the development will stay in Southwark and will be spent delivering the vital work of the charity, allowing us to greatly enhance the original vision of the Charity and support those in ‘need, hardship or distress’.”

Caroline Croft, Chair of the charity, added: “Studies show that people who live in Almshouses live longer, healthier lives. This is a once-in-a-generation project.”
