Commited to architectural excellence,
JTRE London has appointed EPR Architects and MRG Studio to lead the design of the
220 Blackfriars project in London SE1.
The appointments form part of the next stage of the project following the acquisition of the site in partnership with Southwark Charities.
Design enhancements approved
Recent significant planning enhancements have been approved. The updated design includes inset balconies from levels 3 to 19, providing stunning views across the surrounding area, including Blackfriars Bridge, Millenium Bridge and The City.
Chris Castle, Managing Director at EPR Architects, said: “This is a rare opportunity to enhance the area’s public realm while crafting a thoughtful, characterful, and class-leading office building that will attract a new generation of talent.”
Landscape and biodiversity
Landscape design is being delivered by MRG Studio, with sustainability and biodiversity forming a central part of the scheme.
Jennifer Mui, Studio Director at MRG Studio, said: “Delighted to be part of the JTRE London team to deliver a biodiverse and sustainable landscape that offers multiple benefits for the building’s users and for the local community.”
The landscape plan includes 11,500 sq ft of new planting and more than 50 new trees, creating additional green space within the Blackfriars Road area.
Project team appointment
Nigel Fleming, Managing Director at JTRE London, said: “Both EPR Architects and MRG Studio have an outstanding record for delivering exceptional development projects, and their appointment reflects our commitment to working with the best partners in the industry.”
This Development is setting a new standard for London, let alone Blackfriars, office space and wellness led design.
